I have received an eps file (Adobe) and when importing into Corel 11 I get
the message to use the pdf import filter to import this file. I searched
the help file and the Corel site and can find nothing that explains how to
do this.
I have version 10 at work and never have to do anything but open to view eps
and ai files.
Please send me in the right direction.
Thanks

When you import the file, you can select "files of type" - set this to pdf.
I think that worked for me when I ran into this problem a couple months
ago... You can also try using "postscript interpreted" vs. "encapsulated
postscript" - that solves a lot of my Adobe to Corel problems.

Hope this helps

hey paul.. I have noticed that if i just OPEN an eps..rather than
import...it works much better. When i use import the file looks horrible
and distorted...but when i just use open it comes in nice and clean.

Adobe's recent AI versions use a flavor of PDF as their native format.
Usually they also include other data (that allows AI to subsequently
edit the file working on its own objects ratehr than PDF objects).

To see if this is the case with your ile (or any file) open it with a
text editor like TextPad (www.textpad.com). You will see on the top
line wheterh it is a PDF file or a real eps (the PDF file will carry
the words "PDF 1.x...." while the EPS file will carry the words
"!PS....". In raster EPS you may have a lot of binary data ahead of
the "!PS...this is the preview.)

If the "eps" you have been given is a PDF, rename it to dot-pdf. Open
it in Acrobat and save it as an eps, the options shouldusually include
"with preview" and "PostScript level 1" although Draw should wor fine
with PS level 2. Then import THAT eps.

I do not like importing PDF directly because the process can get messy
at prepress time.
