Im trying to produce a Bitmap .bmp file with readable text. Its
72dpi .

Ive tried using a bitmap font but they still appear fuzzy. Is it
because corel paint draws in vector then converts to bmp ?

All help appreciated

Not so much the application, but the fonts are a vector format and may
be subject to anti-aliasing when used by a bitmap oriented program
(Includes Corel Paint). The vector format is what allows the font to be
displayed or printed in a wide range of sizes. Without anti-aliasing the
round and angled portions of the letters would have a saw toothed
appearance. To avoid both issues increase the DPI of the graphic using a
compressed format like the lossless GIF (good for line drawings) or
lossy (degree of detail loss is dependent on the compression level)
jpeg/jpg format (good for photographs). Like web browsers (including
Internet Explorer) many applications have the ability to display/print
images with height and width dimensions corresponding to a higher DPI
than 72. The compressed image file formats (including GIF and JPEG/jpg)
can keep the image file sizes from getting out of hand.

well, Corel doesn't have an application called "Paint." "Paint" is
Microsoft's application. Corel does have Paint Shop Pro, Photo-Paint, and
Painter. Did you mean one of these? If so, which one?

All text in bitmaps will appear "fuzzy" depending on the size of the image
and size of the text.

Just curious, why the BMP format? That is quite an out-dated format that
pretty much no one uses anymore. What is the final product to be used for?
That final product will help determine what needs to be done for better
looking text.

Custom Logo
The logo has to meet some specific characteristics. See the Cisco site
for details.

The background space allocated for the image is 90 x 56 pixels.
Images that are larger than this will automatically be scaled down to
90 x 56 pixels. The recommended file size for the image is from 5 to
15 Kb.

Note This parameter supports Windows 256 color bitmap format only.
CMXML PhoneImage objects are not supported for this parameter. Using
anything other than a Windows bitmap (.bmp) file can cause
unpredictable results.”
