I have been using Corel Gallery for a few years and have now upgraded
my computer. I am using Windows XP Home

I have installed as instructed and only the clip art will respond to
the menu instructions.

Clicking on either of the gallery options produces no action at all.
No movement. No error message.

Thanks,

Robin Chapple

You might want to try running the programs using Windows 95/98
compatibility. Right-click on the shortcut to the program, select
Properties, click on Find Target, right click on the file and choose
properties, go to the compatibility tab and check Windows 98. Might work.

Thanks Craig,

I checked Windows 98 and also the 2000 option without any improvement.
Is there any way to access the images or convert them to a standard
format?

Thanks,

Robin

Sorry, I am unfamiliar with Corel Gallery. What are the file extensions? I
suspect they are proprietary and you will have to find a Win98 machine,
install gallery there and export the images you need in a standard format.

The extensions are GAL and DZI
but are the actual clipart files having these extensions? those 2 extensions
are usually only on the "catalog" files

I agree. But how do I open the catalogue files when the Corel program
will not function with XP?

I don't know if the file extension has altered in versions later than mine,
but in mine they are .CCX and .WI CCX can be batch renamed to .CMX and
then they thumbnail and show up in CorelDraw just fine. .WI is nowhere near
such a proprietary filetype and it images in all the Corel applications I
have OK.

Hope that helps.

You don't have to - just use the scrapbook browser in Draw/Photopaint to
scroll through the images. That's why everyone's been asking you from the
start what the extenstions *of the images are* and you've yet to answer the
damn question.

I regret that I have not explained myself fully.

I cannot access individual images.

The Corel images are in files Library.DZI, Library2.DZI they are each
nearly 300MB.

How do I open them?

so you're saying there are no individual clipart files on the disks at all?
only the gallery files? I find that difficult to believe as they'd be the
only clipart files from Corel to follow that format. Other stand-alone
clipart I've seen from Corel had gallery files, but all the clipart were
still individual files.

There is poor standard clipart as JPG files but the 50,000 images are
in the libraries. They are superb and I have used them many times.

I have posted both to the same URL:

http://www.rotary9790.org.au/test/corel.htm

The program has been set up from CD1 and I have attempted to read the
libraries from the CD and from the CD copied to my F drive as is
illustrated.

In the past the CDs have been copied to a second drive which saves
continually needing to insert them in the CD player. There is an
option in the program for this.

Thanks

Robin, that's certainly a first for me - I've seen DZI before on a Corel
collection before, but it was only a collection of extra bitmap clipart...
the rest was all individual files one could still browse with other
applications. Sorry to have pushed the issue, but it was just that
unthinkable that they would have done it this way... really.

As a longtime Corel devotee I'm also surprised to see them doing it that
way.
Robin; can you please tell us again what version of Gallery it is?

Thank you.

Copyright 1997.

the part number is 25CGENG65

It is a two CD package.

There is no "Help" option to find a version number.

Cheers,

appropriate. I have sent the question to "Gallery". Is there a more
active one?

ok, that tells us what your final use was going to be, but it doesn't tell
us what the application you were going to use the clip art in it was. IE,
were you going to use Corel Draw, Corel Photopaint, what? that app you were
going to use would determine, perhaps, what other newsgroup to look in.

I really don't se the relevance of the final destination of an image
where the Corel software won't work under my conditions.

Anyway to answer your question. Images are use in Publisher, Word,
Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Swish, PaintShop Pro and probably more.

because people could have possibly told you other newsgroups to post in,
Robin, since you had asked what other newsgroups other than "gallery" to
post in.
